WORK AT ROYSTON CLINIC

Patient Information and Education

This practice is committed to the ongoing education of patients.

The practice provides educational information to patients on their rights, their medical conditions, and the various treatments and options available to them.

This practice has access to Health Promotion information through the Royston Clinic Website, GP Network Northside, Murtagh Education on computer, Best Practice, Your Health Newsletter & a variety of other sources, which are updated regularly.

PATIENT-HELD RECORDS

As part of patient education, this practice may provide patients with ‘patient-held’ records.

These records help to promote better knowledge about prevention and illness, contribute to increased patient responsibility for their health by providing personalised information and promote both continuity and quality of care.

As part of Health Promotion this practice has a system for flagging medical records.

There is a computerised recall system offered to patients, identified by the Doctors as requiring follow up. A specific trained staff member is assigned to carry out this process in a regular and timely manner.

IMMUNISATIONS

·         Reminder letters for over 65 Flu vaccines are sent out annually at the same time immunisation status for pneumococcal and tetanus are checked

·         Patients are offered recall when repeat immunisations are due.

CHILDHOOD IMMUNISATION

Royston Clinic has a goal of achieving a 95% childhood immunisation rate. As of  2003 this rate was about 97.8%

This practice uses on the ACIR call back procedure to follow up children not fully immunised.

The Practice Nurse accesses the ACIR via the internet to make any  adjustments and get reports.

All immunisations are recorded  on Medical Director. All new child patients are asked if their immunisations are up to date. Staff to ask at the time of booking appointment that they bring in the blue immunisation record book with them.

Immunisations given here are notified to ACIR via HIC Online by the receptionist.
