receptionist are responsible for letting doctors know how late they are running.
If a doctor is more than 30 minutes late the
receptionist will:
Inform the doctor they are running >= 30minutes late.
Ask the doctor whether the doctor would like the receptionist to take
steps to help alleviate the situation
These steps may include (but are not limited
to):
Getting
the practice sister
to see the patients.
Asking the patients if they would be happy to see the other doctor
Ringing patients and rescheduling their appointments, or asking them to
come later so avoiding them the inconvenience of a prolonged wait.
Assessing with the practice sister which patients may be non-urgent and
rescheduling those to another day.
Running two surgeries for that doctor if room available.
Assisting the doctor by promptly appearing to help clear and make ready
surgery for next patient.
Other measures as may be appropriate at the time.
